Ford Escort Twin Cam

My father has been putting together a Mk1 Ford Escort Twin Cam with a Lotus 1600 engine over the past 2 years. Once it is finished it is planned to be raced on the track and maybe also in some tarmac rallies. It has had a lot of custom work done on it and is almost ready for painting before putting it all together.

Custom 4-1 Ford Escort Headers

Below are some photos of the custom fabricated 4-1 headers. The dimensions for the headers came from Edgell Automotive who are doing the build up of the Lotus 1600 engine. All the primaries are an equal length and have been routed to clear the custom engine mounts and engine bay (since the engine is going to sit slightly more diagonally within the engine bay than standard). They are made out of mild steel mandrel bends and will be ceramic coated once they are complete.

Below are some photos of the collector that has been fabricated for the 4-1 headers. Note the tidy pyramid and the nice clean flow lines that should lead to some good scavenging (and hopefully performance).
